Meet Goliath, the Adorable Calf That Thinks He's a Dog

Once upon a time, Shaylee Hubbs came upon a little calf that was only a day old. He was a "drop calf" from a dairy farm, and he was very thin and extremely sick. The newborn was hardly strong enough to suck on a milk bottle, so Hubbs took him home and put him in the care of the family's vet. The journey to health wasn't an easy one, but eventually the little cow got better, and his appetite and energy levels increased. 

The family named him Goliath because he was so strong, and he grew and prospered in the warmth of their love. Soon, Hubbs noticed that their Great Dane, Leonidas, starting mothering Goliath (even though Leonidas is a male). 

"He would lick the little cow on the face and try to nudge him to stand up," Hubbs told CountryLiving.com. "He would lay down with the sick little cow for hours just to keep him company. Leo, of course, was so bewildered at what the cow was trying to do and thought it was a fun game to play. The Great Dane and Holstein bull became the best of friends.​"

Because the Hubbs live in the foothills of an area with lots of mountain lions and coyotes, they let little Goliath sleep in a playhouse in the backyard, which also served as his place to run around during the day. Even though it was better than the pasture, Goliath would often fog up the windows by staring inside the house at the lucky dogs lounging around on the couches. 

One morning, Hubbs left the house for five minutes and walked down the hill to feed their barn animals. When she returned, they couldn't find Goliath anywhere. 

"We panicked and looked all around the house and checked for any open gates," she said.  "Everything seemed in order. Then we walked into the house and look who we found lounging ever so comfortably on our couch — Goliath!!!  This was triumph and victory, a nice comfortable place on the couch!​"

They took a photo of the funny scene and put it on Twitter, where it quickly went viral. Good for you, little buddy! We have a feeling Goliath isn't going to want to go back to that playhouse any time soon.
