This Badass 10-Year-Old Girl Can Definitely Do More Sit-Ups Than You

When 10-year-old Kyleigh Bass showed up to Kansas City's Foxhill Elementary last weekend to participate in a Project Fit America event, she came determined to complete 2,002 sit-ups, exactly one more than the previous record holder. But rather than stop at a mere 2,002, Kyleigh ended up totally shattering her original goal, completing a jaw-dropping 2,110 sit-ups and setting a new national record.

For those unfamiliar, Project Fit America is a nonprofit organization "that works at the grassroots level with schools and front line educators to create new opportunities for kids to be active, fit, and healthy." In an interview with Fox 4, Kyleigh explained that she was inspired to keep pushing herself during the event thanks to her mom, Michelle Leer-Bass, who had recently completed her first half marathon. As she explains it, even though her mother had been in pain towards the end of the race, Michelle had pushed through and made it to the finish line.

"It's a mind thing," Kyleigh told Fox 4. "If you think about it, you can do it and you'll make it."

While Kyleigh was already capable of completing 800 sit-ups on her own, she was determined to set the new national record, and worked with her P.E. coach to achieve those extra 300 — and obviously, her hard work paid off.
