Keep your skin smooth and refined to help maintain your summer glow by exfoliating. Don't worry – it won't fade your tan, but make it last longer. Facialist and Olay Global ambassador, Anastasia Achilleos says: "A good guide to how frequently you should exfoliate is once to twice a week. That will ensure your skin stays soft while smoothing away any overly sun-screened or dry skin."
2. Eat beta-carotenes
Various studies have shown that a diet rich in beta-carotenes (a type of red-orange pigment) can recreate the glow of sun-kissed skin from within. The best natural sources are sweet potatoes, apricots, mangoes and especially carrots. So be sure to pack your meals with these sunshine-coloured fruits and veg.
3. Cut out toxins
Make small, positive changes to your diet and lifestyle. "Every little change helps when working towards bright, luminous skin" Olay Facialist Expert, Clare Peters says. "Start by phasing out alcohol, caffeine and high sugar food. It may be tough to start, but the results will be worth it!" Start each day with hot water and lemon which "will kick start your metabolism", then drink plenty of water throughout the day. Both will help rid toxins which notoriously dull your skin.
Exercising is as good for your skin as it is for your body and one reason is because it increases your circulation. This means more oxygen and nutrients delivered to the skin cells, and more toxins and waste products carried away from them.
5. Consider juicing
Doing a short juice cleanse can have a big impact on skin by removing toxins from the body. If you don't fancy doing a liquid-only cleanse, adding green juices into a healthy diet is also beneficial for your skin as your body readily absorbs the nutrients from them without having to digest the fibre.
Try Clare's Glowing Skin Booster recipe: Juice 2 apples, 3 long kale leaves, 1 cucumber, 1 lemon, ginger and fresh mint.
6. Reflect the light
Reach for products with light reflecting particles in them. This day cream with SPF15 gives skin instant radiance, which gently penetrates through makeup. To bring a tan back to life on your limbs. It's a trick used on beauty shoots for glistening limbs that look leaner and sexier.
7. Do facial massage
Your face needs to MOVE to retain suppleness and elasticity. Light pinching of the skin stimulates blood flow. This, coupled with lymph drainage-stimulating light strokes when applying your moisturiser, will help flush excess fluids and enhance blood flow for an instant glow and longer-term lift.
8. Wear primer
Caroline Barnes, Max Factor Makeup Artist says "One essential makeup product whilst working the 'glow' look is a primer which acts as a Velcro to make your makeup last longer. When you are creating a glossy complexion you tend to use lots of cream textures that don't last too long so a primer is your secret weapon."
9. Wear gold jewellery
"Gold jewellery enhances a tan" jewellery designer Daisy Knights told us. When you wear gold earrings against a bronzed complexion or gold rings on sun-kissed fingers your tan will glow.
