Stop Everything You're Doing, Coffee Could be EXTINCT in Near Future

​Savour those sips of coffee for just a few seconds longer, guys, because by 2080 the good stuff could be extinct. Global warming is now coming for your caffeine addiction. 

According to a report by The Climate Institute, rising temperatures could wipe wild coffee off the face of the planet some time within the next 64 years. Researches said that by 2050, the amount of suitable farmland for coffee is expected to have halved, as climate change sees a spread of plant-damaging fungi. 

Not only that, but you could be noticing a difference in your coffee's quality sooner rather than later, as the climate changes will alter the taste and aroma. And, as with all things that are rare, the cost of your coffee is bound to go up, with the report stating: "Looking ahead, it is hard to see how consumer prices cannot be anything but badly affected." 

Even if you don't like coffee, this research is utterly devastating, as it could impact the 120 million people worldwide whose livelihoods depend on coffee beans. 

"We have a cloud hovering over our head," said Mario Cerutti, a spokesperson from the coffee producer, Lavazza. "It's dramatically serious. Climate change can have a significant adverse effect in the short term. It's no longer about the future; it's the present." ​
