Deepika Padukone Trolled For Calling India 'A Regressed Nation'

Ever since the shooting of Deepika Padukone-Shahid Kapoor-Ranveer Singh starrer Padmavati began, there has been a huge chaos surrounding the movie—from setting the sets of the film on fire to hampering its shoot to protesting against the release of the movie, Padmavati is indeed going through a tough phase because of a certain community, mainly the Rajput group, who believe the film wrongly implies a romantic relationship between Padmini and Emperor Alauddin Khilji.

Deepika Padukone finally came out in support of her movie and gave a statement in regard to all the protest that has been carried out against it.

"Where have we reached as a nation? We have regressed. The only people we are answerable to is the censor board, and I know and I believe that nothing can stop the release of this film."

Though the statement, which was said in favor of the movie, has irked many people, which has further led to Deepika getting trolled on the social media.

Padmavati, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, has been beset by trouble ever since filming was disrupted in January—the sets were set on fire in Jaipur and Maharashtra. Despite his repeated assurances that the film does not show any romantic relationship between Padmini and Khilji, many groups have still demanded a screening of the movie before its release.
