5 Secrets Strippers Use to Keep Their Bikini Lines Bump-Free

Jacqueline Francis aka Jacq The Stripper (author of "Striptastic!") knows a thing or two about keeping a bump-free bikini line: after all, her lady parts are seen up close and personal on the regular. So, you can trust she knows how to keep razor burn and blemishes at bay. That said, a little preliminary advice to keep your bikini line spirits high: "Everyone puts concealer on their bikini lines," Francis reveals, so don't get down if you don't have a perfect-looking bikini line — because, basically, no one else does either.

Okay, onto her tips:

1. Use conditioner instead of shaving gel or cream. Apply conditioner to your bikini line (or wherever else you want to remove hair from down there) to create some slip when you shave. "Shaving cream is an added expense that I don't believe in," Francis says.

2. Shave with the hair growth. If you want just want it to look good from a distance (if you're at the beach, for example), first apply conditioner to your bikini line, and then shave with (not against) your hair growth. "If you want a closer shave, you'll have to shave against the hair growth for that, but expect some irritation," she adds.

3. Make sure your razor is sharp, not dull. "If you're dragging the razor over your hair and it's taking a while to remove everything, it's time to switch out your razor," Francis says. "I typically use whatever free razor is at Equinox — you know how some people refuse to buy expensive sunglasses? I refuse to buy a razor that's $14 that I'm just going to lose carrying my bag around," Francis says. But whatever razor you're comfortable with is perfect as long as it's not dull.

4. Pat on some witch hazel after you shower. "This helps keep bumps away," she says. "I shave before work, shower when I get home, and then pat down the area with witch hazel."

5. Apply a little coconut oil over your freshly shaved bikini line to help moisturize your skin. You don't need a lot though, she advises.

"On the days I don't work, I don't shave, so I use coffee grounds, Kate Somerville ExfoliKate — my wife bought this for us — or Aesop Geranium Body Scrub on my bikini line to keep bumps away," she adds.

Already have razor burn and need to calm the irritation fast? Francis recommends putting vitamin E on the area. "Some of my stripper friends even apply deodorant to prevent further chaffing," she says. Not into the idea of applying deodorant along your panty/bikini line?

And that, my friends, is how it's done.
