9 No-Heat Ways to Style Wet Hair That Are Easy AF!

If you want a break from blow-dryers, straighteners, and curling wands, try wet-styling your hair instead — as in styling your hair while it's towel-dried (or spraying it so it's damp), setting it, and unraveling it later for a gorgeous, dry 'do.

For the below looks, start out with damp hair. However, if you want any of these styles to have a looser wave, wait until your hair is 80 percent dry, or dampen it with a spray bottle, before getting started. Just note: The wetter your hair is when you start, the longer each look will take to set, and the stronger your hair will hold the style.

1. Loose Braid Waves

1. Loosely braid damp hair in four equal sections. Don't worry if the braids aren't perfect. The lumpier and messier they are, the more organic your waves will look.

2. Unravel the braids. If the ends have creases, spray a little water on them to loosen them up.

2. Pineappling

1. Gather dampened, curly hair into a high ponytail. Use a scrunchie to loosely hold it in place on top of your head. Only pull your hair through the scrunchie once or twice to prevent creasing.

2. Wrap your hair in a silk scarf while you sleep. Silk keeps in moisture and prevents your hair from becoming dry and frizzy. That way, when you take down your hair in the morning, you'll be left with defined, voluminous curls.

3. Headband Curls

1. Slip a circular headband around your head and wrap small sections of hair around it. If your hair is already dry, lightlydampen it with a spray bottle and place an elastic headband securely around your head; otherwise, start with it 80 percent wet.Next, starting on the left side, loosely tuck 1- to 2-inch sections of hair over and around the top of the elastic (this will cause the curls to flow away from your face rather than toward it); do this until you reach the back middle of your head. Repeat on the right side. If you want your curls to be smaller, wrap the hair around the band tighter; for larger curls, wrap it looser.

2. Repeat step one until all your hair is wrapped around the headband.

3. Unwrap your hair from the headband and slip it off to reveal your cool-girl curls. Use your fingers to separate the curls and fluff your hair.

4. Crown Waves

1. Use a T-shirt or pillowcase to make the base of your crown. Twist the fabric to create the crown, and create a knot so it doesn't unravel (the knot should be positioned near the crown of your head). Comb the bang section of your damp hair in front of your face, then place the crown in the middle of your head.

2. Twist small sections of hair around the crown. Wrap a 1- to 2-inch section of hair over and around the crown. Continue wrapping each section smoothly around the crown until you reach your ends. Secure a bobby pin to your hair so it doesn't unravel.

3. Repeat this step until all your hair is wrapped around the crown. When your hair is dry, unwrap the sections, remove the crown, and use your fingers to separate the waves.

5. Braid Outs

1. Divide your hair into four vertical sections (they don't have to be perfect, don't worry). Then, apply a styling cream to each section and, starting with the first section, tightly braid your hair to your ends.

2. Continue to braid the other three sections of hair.

3. Unravel the braids. Once your hair is dry, use your fingers to break apart the braids and style your curls how you like.

6. Air-Dried Volume

1. Part your hair down the center until your hair is 80 percent dry.

2. Flip the top section of your hair from side to side. Instead of just letting your hair dry down and flat, flip the top section of your hair in between your temples every few minutes while it air-dries. This flipping technique causes your hair to dry with volume at the roots, leaving you with heat-free body.

7. Low Bun Waves

1. Split your hair in two sections and twist. If you prefer your hair to be smoother at the roots and wavier at the ends, comb one section into a tight, low side ponytail and then twist the tail down to your ends.

2. Spin the twist into a low bun. Secure with one elastic and a bobby pin. Repeat steps 1 and 2 on the other side, so you have two buns. Once the hair is dry, unravel the buns and use your fingers to separate the waves.

8. Twist Outs

1. Section your hair into eight equal parts and begin twisting. As you twist your hair, apply a styling cream or gel for more defined curls and hold. Separate the first part into three sections for a three-strand twist, or into two sections for a two-strand twist (Sade chose the latter technique here). Begin tightly crossing the sections of hair over and around each other to form your twist.

2. Twirl the ends to secure each twist. Repeat steps 1 and 2 until all sections are twisted.

3. Pin and wrap your style. Pin the twists securely to your head and let your hair air-dry. You can also wrap your hair in a silk scarf while it dries, to help prevent frizz and flyaways, because silk helps retain moisture.

4. Untwist and style your curls. Use a wide-tooth comb to style and shape your curls how you prefer. Then, style your hair with or without your scarf, depending on the look you're going for.

9. Scarf Bun Waves

1. Tie a scarf around one section of your hair. Separate your hair into four equal sections (two on the top half of your head, two on the bottom half), and then tie one scarf (the scarf helps create bigger curls) around the base of one section.

2. Twist the section of hair around the scarf. Keep twisting the hair all the way down until you reach your ends.

3. Spin the twist into a bun. Tie the ends of the scarf together to hold the bun in place or pin it into place with bobby pins. Repeat steps 1 through 3 on the other three sections of hair. Once your hair dries, untwist the buns and remove the scarves. Use your fingers to tousle the waves.
