After bagging several Bollywood blockbusters, as well as crossing over to international waters, it was beyond understanding for the Western media to casually mistake Deepika Padukone for Priyanka Chopra, not once, but multiple times.
She has earlier also been referred to as Priyanka when she was promoting her debut film in Hollywood, xXx: Return Of Xander Cage. Interestingly, it was the the same YouTube channel which has posted the video of Deepika at the airport, wrongly headlined as 'Priyanka Chopra'.
Deepika kept calm and didn't create an issue on the subject, even when local media outside LA airport, greeted her with "Hello Priyanka".
Priyanka Chopra, who has already shared her views on this earlier, found it extremely infuriating and quoted it 'unfair'.
It was at the press conference for the Cannes Collection 2017, that Deepika finally spoke on this issue. She said, "It's not just me who should be offended, but each one of you should also be offended because it's not just ignorance but also racism. Two people of similar colour are not the same people. So, you as fellow Indians should be calling them out and educating them. Instead of encouraging it, you should be educating them."
We've to say, it's pleasantly refreshing to see Deepika giving a piece of her mind to the media. Just back from attending the Met Gala 2017 in New York, Deepika is now gearing up for the French Riviera. She plans to attend the Cannes Film Festival, for a major cosmetic giant that recently appointed her as their brand ambassador.
We can only expect fireworks!
