Sonam Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, kicked up a storm at the Cannes Film Festival, this year.
They both looked ravishing throughout the trip, rocking one great outfit after another. But, the foreign media couldn't help, but mix up the two Bollywood stars, and tagged Sonam Kapoor as Deepika Padukone, in a recent Cannes picture.
A popular American stock photo agency had added a picture of Sonam Kapoor, with the caption, "Indian actress Deepika Padukone arrives for the film The Meyerowitz Stories in competition at the 70th Annual International Film Festival in Cannes, France on May 21, 2017."
International media really need to start getting their facts right. Earlier, they had mistaken Deepika for Priyanka Chopra, and now Sonam's been added to the equation too.
Deepika was appalled by the incident, and even went to the extent of labeling it as, 'racism'.
"It's not just about me being offended. It's you all in this room who should be offended. It's not just ignorance, it's also racist. Two people of similar colour are not the same people. So, you as fellow Indians should actually be calling them out and educating them instead of encouraging it. Ignorance is ignorance. I feel bad for them," she said.
Sonam, however didn't call it racism, but reacted to it in a completely different way, on her Twitter account, and set the record straight.
"One picture in a milieu of 1000s tagged right is an error not a misidentification. Gets your facts right don't believe Pr's," she wrote.
Well said, Sonam. 🙌
