We are a country full of ardent fans, obsessed with our Bollywood celebrities. We follow them on social media, enjoy getting minute-by-minute updates of their daily lives, and jump up instantly at the mere prospect of somehow encountering them! Who'd leave out a chance to brag on social media, after all.
All in good spirit of course, we cherish our stars and await the news of their next milestone. But, an inevitable by-product of fandom is — opinionated haters who are ready to hurl them with uncalled-for insults, getting offended at the blink of an eye!
Whether it was Priyanka Chopra getting slut-shamed for "baring" her legs in a midi-dress, while engaged in a rendezvous with the Prime Minister of India, or Dangal star, Fatima Sana Shaikh being hated for donning swimwear in a shoot during the Muslim holy month, haters leave no stone unturned to lash out at celebs if they ever 'cross a line'.
Recently, when Deepika Padukone posted a photo from her latest Maxim shoot, she became the next target for the Internet moral police. From body-shaming her, attacking her skin color to slut-shaming her for showing too much skin (apparently!), Deepika received a lot of backlash from her supposed fans.

The picture which has garnered such a lot of rage on social media has Deepika sporting a white crop top, and a high-waisted hipster. Along the likes of celebs like Emma Watson, Emma Stone, Dakota Johnson, Kendall Jenner — Deepika Padukone was listed in the 2017 Maxim Hot 100 list, which in itself is a phenomenal milestone! The controversial outfit was a courtesy of designer, Swapnil Shinde, styled by Deepika's personal stylist, Shaleena Nathani.
However, Deepika seems unperturbed, and indifferent to all the social media hate. As a silent retort, she uploaded another picture from the same shoot, just to prove that she really has better things to do, than give a response to mindless accusations and illogical hate comments!
We totally adore her silent come-back, and can't wait to witness her next enviable achievement. You go, girl.
