The Post Pregnancy Regime That Helped Aishwarya Rai Bachchan Lose The Extra Weight

She was criticised majorly for proudly displaying her overweight figure despite being in the showbiz, even years after the birth of her first daughter, Aaradhya. Some may call it the nature of the industry, while some others may say it's unfair—a mother should have the right to chose how she wishes her body to look like during and after pregnancy—without any undue pressure on her.

And yes, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan inspired many mothers and mothers-to-be. to be comfortable in their own skin, without giving in to the unruly pressure of society. She took her own sweet time to lose her post-pregnancy weight, and boy did she shock the bejesus out of everyone, when she hit back the silver screen with Jazbaa followed by Ae Dil Hai Mushkil oozing with 'oomph' and a gorgeously toned body.

But not without proving an important point—

"I didn't over think the fact that I had put on weight. I didn't do anything as expected of someone who came with all the adages as me. There's a lot of glamour and a lot of visual that is attached to me. But I stayed committed to my reality. If my body did go through this change, so be it. I didn't play into the stereotype of what is possible. It's an individual choice if people decide to go under the knife. I had access to that but I chose not to. I was genuinely comfortable in my skin and I got recognition along the way. Women who met me publicly, thanked me for the fact that I was giving them strength to be comfortable with the natural change. Hormonally anything can happen to a woman, your body can go through change and it's important to remain comfortable and not let it affect you psychologically. My comfort and my conviction to just say true, in turn, gave strength to so many women. Suddenly, it's okay to put on weight. It's okay that your body changes physically from health reasons or otherwise and it's okay to choose to dress the way you want to. I am happy with my weight and I love my daughter."

On a usual day, Aishwarya's diet chart looks something like this:

BREAKFAST

You have probably heard this a gazillion times, and former Miss World advocates it too! The no.1 secret to weight loss is never skipping your first meal of the day, so a healthy and wholesome breakfast was her first priority, preferably within 30 minutes to 1 hour of waking up. She begun her day with warm water—spiked with lemon and honey—followed by a brekkie of brown bread toast or a steaming bowl of freshly cooked oats to load up on protein and fiber.

LUNCH

Don't mistake Aishwarya for someone who munches on fancy AF foods to maintain her svelte figure. You'd be surprised to know that her lunch normally consists of boiled vegetables which are easy to digest, full of nutrients, contains little or no fat and flavorful! She would occasionally add a bowl of dal (lentils) and a roti (wheat) if she wanted. As far as lunch is concerned, she once said, "I can survive on dal, chawal and vegetables!"

SNACKS

Her little secret is saying no to starvation! Aishwarya prefers to snack frequently so as to avoid cravings which materialise into a full-blown binge-fest. Instead of eating junk, fried or fatty foods, she prefers fruits, vegetables and fresh juices of both (without sugar, obviously).

DINNER

Dinner is Aishwarya's lightest meal of the day, with good reason, of course. The last meal of the day is the most difficult to digest, so she sticks to a cup of brown rice and grilled fish for dinner. Brown rice has high fibre content while fish provides for the required protein and omega 3 fatty acids.

All in all — a simple and easy to follow diet, that makes sure you're not deprived of any essential nutrients. Because, why make life difficult, when you can keep it simple silly?

AISHWARYA'S WORKOUT ROUTINE

All you people who just cannot pull yourself out of the bed to hit the gym, and end up indulging in guilt over not working for your dream body—take a deep breath, and relax.

Aishwarya achieved her magnificent transformation not by sweating it out in the gym, but just by eating right coupled with her weapon of choice—power yoga! Yes, sprinkled with a bit of good genes, to be honest. In her interviews, Aishwarya confessed he never coveted a lean figure and was gifted with it, while absolutely loving her curves.

To aid her diet in the process of weight loss, Aishwarya hit the gym just twice a week where she would focus on functional training and cardio. The other days, she practised and mastered the art of power yoga which is the secret to her toned body and flexibility.
