There were chants of 'Nepotism Rocks!' at the IIFA Awards last night. The word, who's verbal existence was brought in Bollywood by none other than Kangana Ranaut herself, was the reason behind filmmaker Karan Johar and actors Varun Dhawan and Saif Ali Khan taking a dig at her.
If you didn't quite catch up with IIFA Awards, let us tell you that Bollywood celebrities made it a night to remember in NYC.
The show was hosted by Saif Ali Khan and Karan Johar, the two funny men of Bollywood with their impeccable comic timings, kept the crowd entertained with their witticism.
When Varun Dhawan went on the stage to collect his award for The Best Actor In A Comic Role in Dhishoom, Saif joked that he has made it big in Bollywood because of his father, filmmaker David Dhawan. To which Varun replied, "And you're here because of your Mummy (actor Sharmila Tagore)". And then Karan Johar joined them and said he was in the industry because of his father, filmmaker Yash Johar.
The three of them then shouted, "Nepotism Rocks".
The next thing that happened was the highlight of the night. Varun reminded them of a song from Karan's movie, "Bole chudiyaan, bole KANGANA...."
To which the director rejoined by saying, "Kangana na hi bole to accha hai, Kangana bahot bolti hai".
"It's better Kangana doesn't speaks, she speaks a lot".
The whole scene was directly aimed at Kangana as she started the whole 'Nepotism' debate and called out Karan 'the flag bearer of nepotism'. Well, Karan indirectly potshotted at Kangana and told her to shut up in front of the whole crowd, even when Kangana wasn't present at the venue.
It looks like viewers weren't amused at all, as a string of criticism followed on Twitter, with people bashing the trio for their unfunny and tasteless humour.
Keeping a record of Kangana's sassy comebacks, we're wondering what she's gonna fire back at them?
