Selena Gomez Makes Instagram Account Private After Posting Message About Billboard Story

If you already follow Selena Gomez on Instagram, chances are, you haven't noticed that she's made her account private. Well, as of a few hours ago on this lovely Tuesday morning, @selenagomez is private if you're not one of her 130 million followers. And according to some eagle-eyed fans, it might have to do with this message Selena posted on her Instagram Stories overnight. It's since been deleted, but you know the drill by now:

The text in the background appears to be from Selena's recent feature in Billboard, who named her Woman of the Year and honored her in person at the annual Women in Music event. Selena's response reads, "Never will I let another human guess my words ever again. Or invite them into my home. That is so hurtful. The most 'ridiculous' part of that is no one knowing my heart when I say things." And here's the paragraph in question:

There's a five-foot teddy bear sprawled across the kitchen floor in Selena Gomez's North Hollywood home. "I know, I know," says Gomez, rolling her eyes, acknowledging that the stuffed animal doesn't quite blend with the trio of armchairs nestled in the inviting, marble-accented nook. "It was a gift, and at first I thought, 'This is so ridiculous, I can't wait until I give it away to another person.'"But Gomez, 25, hasn't let go of it -- yet.

So what's Selena's beef with Billboard? Who was the teddy from? What does it look like? And does it have anything to do with this teddy-inspired jacket she wore while out in London on Monday?

Until more clues about Teddy Bear Gate 2017 surface, I'll leave you with this quote Selena gave Vogue in March 2017, when she revealed that the app isn't even on her phone anymore. (Her assistant is also the one who has the password, not Selena, so who knows, maybe it was just a big mix up after all?)

As soon as I became the most followed person on Instagram, I sort of freaked out. It had become so consuming to me. It's what I woke up to and went to sleep to. I was an addict, and it felt like I was seeing things I didn't want to see, like it was putting things in my head that I didn't want to care about. I always end up feeling like shit when I look at Instagram. Which is why I'm kind of under the radar, ghosting it a bit.

Update 12/5, 10 a.m.: Just before making her account private, Selena appeared on KISS Breakfast in London, where she talked about her Instagram habits: "I think it's funny because a lot of people know how self-deprecating I am in general," she said. "It's not something I try to keep up. I think it's amazing to stay connected with my fans and most of the time I probably say too much. But I don't know. It's fun, I love being able to connect with people. But whether I'm the number one most followed or the least followed, it's for me." She also added that she doesn't really get paranoid after posting a photo. "Most of the time I just don't care and I just do it. That's what gets me in trouble. So yes, to me it's just something I'm a little careless with."

Fans have also been sharing this now-deleted Instagram Stories video of Selena with the caption, "I need some alone time."
