In the October issue of Elle UK, Miley Cyrus has revealed that she identifies as pansexual, and that, contrary to reports, she is not in a relationship.
It's not the first time that she's talked about her sexuality in recent months, but it is the first time that the singer has put any kind of label on it. Previously, she told Out magazine that she doesn't consider herself heterosexual, before stating to TIME that she's been in relationships with both men and women.
Miley then told Paper magazine that she is "literally open to every single thing that's consenting, doesn't involve an animal, and everyone is of age".
Now, the singer has explained to Elle:
"I'm very open about it; I'm pansexual. But I'm not in a relationship. I'm 22, I'm going on dates, but I change my style every two weeks, let alone who I'm with."
The relationship news is surprising, as many were certain that Miley is exclusive with Victoria's Secret model Stella Maxwell, after photos surfaced of the two kissing. She wasn't willing to define their status, nor her gender identity, as she explained: "I don't relate to what people have made men and women into."
Miley added: "I know I'm more extreme and badass than most guys, but that doesn't make me a boy. And the other night I wore a pink dress because I felt cute. I can bake a cupcake and then go play hockey."
As far as her image is concerned, the singer said she's learnt to not care what people say about her after dealing with "anxiety".
"I've had really bad anxiety and depression in my life and a lot of that stemmed from the way I look," Miley said. "Now I really try not to give a f--k. If you're funny enough and cool enough and confident, that's what will make you feel beautiful."
