J.K. Rowling Made a MAJOR Change to the Harry Potter Universe and Muggles Are Not Happy

When ​Entertainment Weekly ​dropped those stunning new cast photos from ​​Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, ​they also revealed another juicy detail from the new movie. Set in New York during the 1920s, the film adds some new words and phrases and makes some modifications to the Potterverse. One of those changes is causing big waves in the fandom. 

It turns out, in America, muggles aren't actually called "muggles." Wizards stateside call them "no-maj," which ​EW ​explains is pronounced "no-madge." It means "no magic," which makes sense.  Plenty of English words and phrases are different across the pond, so it would fit that American wizards would use a different slang word to describe the non-spellcasting folks around them. But the Internet was not pleased with this revelation. 

Twitter was  alight with the collective cries of Potter fans, shouting ​BUT I'M A MUGGLE AND I ALWAYS WILL BE ​in unison. Fans staged a bonafide revolt, refusing to adopt the new name.
