Remember Anna and Elsa? Yes, they're the two fearless female characters that Walt Disney casted in its last animation film, Frozen. Of course, the movie was a great success. Not just because it was a great film, but also because Disney based the entire story on a fearless female lead.
Now, you can understand why we here at Cosmo are fans of fearless women (fun, fearless, female…ring a bell?), so we were especially thrilled when we heard about Disney's latest project: Moana.
Moana, voiced by Auli'i Cravalho, a complete newcomer from Hawaii, is the story of a courageous, and fiery teenager, named Moana, who sets out on an adventure to find the undiscovered islands of Oceania, and fulfill the unfinished quest that her ancestors had once set out on. So, the lead of Disney's latest film is a teenage girl who is an explorer; that makes it to our list of the 'Top Five Disney Characters E-V-E-R'! And Auli'i, the young Hawaiin girl who's going to bring Moana to life seems pretty cool too!
Here's a video of Auli'i, check it out:
Like every Disney movie, Moana makes friends, has to face deadly creatures, and finally has to find, and prove, herself. But again, like every Disney movie, she's not going to be doing this alone. During her journey, Moana meets Maui, a once-mighty demi-god voiced by Dwayne Johnson. Cool, right?
Directed by Ron Clements and John Musker (the brains behind The Little Mermaid and Aladdin) you can be sure that this Disney movie is going to be out of the world!
Expected to release in 2016, Moana's already garnered a lot of attention with its choice of casting. In a good way, of course.
We just hope that the movie is as good as it sounds! I mean, who doesn't love a Disney movie right?
