Jennifer Lawrence Got "Really Drunk" Before Her Sex Scene With Chris Pratt

Jennifer Lawrence revealed she filmed her very first sex scene recently — and it did not go well. In a roundtable interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she commiserated with fellow Oscar contenders about how "bizarre" the experience is, and how it left her drunk and calling her mom for support.

Jennifer filmed the scene with co-star Chris Pratt for the upcoming sci-fi movie Passengers, and she said she "got really, really drunk" to deal with the awkwardness, especially since Chris is married to Anna Faris. "It was going to be my first time kissing a married man, and guilt is the worst feeling in your stomach," she said. "So I called my mom, and I was like, 'Will you just tell me it's OK?' It was just very vulnerable. […] That was the most vulnerable I've ever been."

The roundtable also included Carey Mulligan, Cate Blanchett, Kate Winslet, Jane Fonda, Helen Mirren, Brie Larson, and Charlotte Rampling, and they talked about the gender pay gap in Hollywood and the difficulty finding good roles for women. Helen responded to Jennifer's recent Lenny op-ed about experiencing the pay gap herself. "We've got to stop being polite," Helen said. "If I ever had children, which I don't, the first thing I'd teach a girl of mine is the words 'fuck off.'"

The talk was part of an annual issue that features Oscar contenders, and the magazine received swift backlash for featuring an all-white group of actresses this year. Editor Stephen Galloway wrote an essay accompanying the roundtable interview to address the issue head-on. "The awful truth is that there are no minority actresses in genuine contention for an Oscar this year," he writes. "Unless the half-dozen men and women now running the major studios demand and foster a culture of diversity, the status quo will continue as it is. And I'll be writing a mea culpa every year."
