Makeup Artist Slammed for Using Dead Fish as Makeup

A Russian makeup artist is facing a ton of backlash after she posted photos of dead fish on model's faces as makeup to her now deleted Instagram.

The Daily Mail reports that Elya Bulochka apparently killed the fish and used them as beauty accessories in a photo shoot. Models wore bright, neon makeup and gems on their faces, with angelfish fish placed around their cheeks and forehead.

Elya allegedly held up a clear bag in a photo filled with fish, writing, "Guess what I'm going to be wearing today." This sparked dozens of her 25,000 followers to call her out for killing the creatures as "art."

"This is not art, just another stupid person killing animals for nothing," one person wrote. Another added: "Animals are not things, why is this so difficult to understand."

Seemingly responding to the controversy, Elya posted a photo of herself wearing sardines on her face, allegedly writing: "Now I want to play you in a game of 'double standards' spot 10 differences." She's saying that meat eaters don't really have a right to complain since they also deal with dead fish. But many see the fish they eat differently from just being used and then thrown away.

Continuing to post photos from the shoot before she deleted her account, Elya seemed to comment on the hate she's received online: "We were blamed for inhumanity, we are torn into pieces in comments and media, and we are insulted, even cursed."
