The popular online streaming website, Netflix, is going to stream Anurag Kashyap's classic Gangs Of Wasseypur in a first of its kind attempt at streaming a Bollywood film as a multi episode series.
Netflix is going to stream Gangs of Wasseypur, which premiered in Cannes in 2012, as a part of 8 episode series, including the sequel.
Anurag Kashyap addressed a panel at the Film Bazaar in Goa on Monday and spoke about content creation, monetization and marketing films. On his movie being streamed on Netflix, he said that it "reflects how digital distribution can play a role in expanding a film's audience after its theatrical release," he also added, "The other advantage of a web series is that we do not need to deal with obnoxious censorship and we have creative freedom."
The news couldn't have come at a better time as Netflix is now planning to launch in India by next year!
The series will be broadcasted with subtitles in different languages, including English, Spanish, Chinese, French, and Arabic.
