Google's 10 Most Searched Beauty Questions Answered

So Google have revealed the most searched for beauty questions of 2015 and just incase you've still not figured these out we've got the answers for you - no googling needed.

1. How to do the Kylie Jenner lip challenge?

Back in April we all got a *little* obsessed with Kylie Jenner's lips (she was still denying having lip fillers done back then) which led to some pretty extreme lip envy and numerous theories on how the youngest Jenner got those full and plump lips.

The most common theory was that she used a cupping lip suction method which one writer even dared to try. The process involved putting your lips into a shot glass, Pringles can and various branded lip cupping devices and sucking to achieve temporary full lips and thus the #KylieJennerLipChallenge was born, with some horrendous results.

2. What are lip fillers?

Lip fillers are injected into your lips or the skin around your mouth to either increase the volume and fullness of your lips or even out fine lines around the mouth.  After a numbing cream is applied, the filler is injected in your lips or the skin around the mouth. The injected product can range from hyaluronic acid gel, collagen to your own fat tissues (autologous fillers).

3. How to remove gel nail polish?

While gel nail polish looks beautiful, when it comes to taking the stuff off it's a whole different story! We recommend going to a nail salon where a nail technician will soak off the polish in acetone but if you can't get to one follow these easy steps.

Step 1: File the surface of you nail lightly once or twice,

Step 2: Cut cotton wool pads into squares slightly larger than your nail,

Step 3: Dip each cotton wool pad in acetone and place one square over each nail,

Step 4: Cut tin foil into rectangles

Step 5: Wrap each finger and cotton pad in tin foil (this ensures the cotton wool pad doesn't move and the heat created from the insulation helps the acetone do it's job quicker!)

Step 6: Wait 5-8 mins before taking the foil and cotton wool pad off,

Step 7: Use a metal cuticle pusher to scrape the polish off (if the polish isn't coming off easily put the pad and foil back on while removing the polish from another nail).

Step 8: Your nails will feel fragile and weak so make sure you apply a nourishing nail oil and hand cream and give your nails some time to heal by waiting a few weeks before painting them again.

4. How to remove acrylic nails at home?

Who didn't try stiletto nails at least once this year? Removing acrylic nails at home can be an absolute disaster so we recommend definitely going to a nail salon for these babies removing. But if you can't, clip the nails down (just above your real nail length) and follow the instructions above but leave the acetone on for 10 minutes this time!

5. How to use beard balm?

Beard balm is meant for men with bigger beards, or kinky, curly, bushy, or bristly hair and it helps to keep the beard soft and smooth. Take a pea-sized amount of balm and rub into your hands and apply all over the beard - remember to apply under the chin and right up to the cheeks too (if it goes that far).

6. How to do a French braid?

Plaiting and braiding can be super easy once you know how to, but if you're a novice, well, it's easy for that braid to turn into a messy bun when you finally give up.

7. How to pop a deep zit?

It's pretty much impossible to pop a deep zit that hasn't developed a 'white head' and if you do it's most likely to lead to more inflammation and infection so go to a dermatologist for these kinds of spots!

As for blackheads and small spots with 'white heads' there's some simple rules you NEED to follow if you want to avoid it coming back even bigger, angrier and tender!

Step 1: Wash your hands and cleanse your face to minimise the risk of infection,

Step 2: Cover each finger with tissue (again to minimise risk of infection),

Step 3: Squeeze the spot through the tissues until all the puss is removed,

Step 4: dab TCP or tea tree oil over the spot to disinfect the area.

Tips: Avoid touching a spot (before and after you've popped it) to avoid infection and pop spots after a shower, the heat will open up your pores making it easier to burst (ew!) ...if you didn't "ew" at that you might be into 'pimple porn'.

Step 2: Wrap the front section around the back section and tie in a knot to form a ponytail,

Step 3: Stand up straight and let the hair fall down,

Step 4: wrap sections of the hair around the base of the ponytail and fix in place with hair grips.
