While the internet is lauding the trailer of 'Aligarh' and Manoj Bajpai's performance in it, the Censor Board has decided to grant the trailer an 'A' certificate that has led to massive social media outrage.
An 'A' certificate for a movie trailer entails it being previewed only in 'A' certificate movie screenings and being aired only during the night time on television.
The story is a real life story about a gay professor, played by Manoj Bajpai, who was suspended from his job because of his sexual orientation. After successfully appealing his suspension, he died in suspicious circumstances.
The director, Hansal Mehta, feels that this is unwarranted as there is nothing in the trailer that qualifies as an 'A' certificate material.
