You're Wearing Your Bag Wrong

Proenza Schouler is one of the most important and influential brands showing at New York Fashion Week. The trends and styling tricks they debut on their runways each season are soon copied by everyone from Zara and H&M to the most exclusive, high-end, luxury fashion houses in Europe. In other words, when Proenza says something is in, everyone in the fashion world listens.

So what's "in" for fall 2016? Wearing your short-strapped shoulder bag like a crossbody bag, that's what.

You've probably done this sort of thing by mistake once or twice already. Twenty-four hours ago, it would have been an awkward and restrictive fashion fail, but today, it's the thing. That's just how fashion is sometimes.

Très chic, no? Just make sure you are wearing sleeves. The last thing you want is a deodorant stain on the top of your bag. That would definitely not be chic. Unless, of course, deodorant-stained handbags pop up on the Céline runway in Paris later this month. Céline is even more influential than Proenza Schouler. They could make assless rainbow chaps a thing.

Of course, those are just runway pictures. The runway is great and all, but what about off the runway? Cosmopolitan.com asked four women to give this brave new trend a try with their own bags and tell us what they thought.

1. Heeseung

"Wait, I don't really get the concept. So, people are wearing their bags around their necks? And their arm? This isn't really working. Is my bag too small or am I too big?"

2. Courtney

"I guess fashion is supposed to be uncomfortable?"

3. Emily

"I like crossbody bags and I like chokers, but this... "

4. Mylan

"This is weird."

Weird? Weird!?!? Darling, it's not weird. It's Proenza! ~*fAsHioN*~.
