WhatsApp Might Not Be Available to You This Time Next Year

Don't panic. Unless you're a Blackberry or Nokia owner, in which case panic right this second, because WhatsApp is set to be discontinued on your phone - and soon.

The messaging app has announced that those using Nokia and Blackberry operating systems won't be able to access the app from the end of 2016, as they want to focus their efforts on more widely-used systems.

The news comes in the same week that the app celebrated its seventh anniversary with one billion active users, but they certainly dampened the celebratory spirits by dropping this bad news. The operating systems that will no longer be able to use the app include BlackBerry 10, Nokia S40 and S60, and Windows Phone 7.1 systems.

In a blog post, the company wrote: "As we look ahead to our next seven years, we want to focus our efforts on the mobile platforms the vast majority of people use.'"

They went on to suggest that users of those devices "upgrade to a newer Android, iPhone, or Windows Phone." Sure, let us just pick that cash off the money tree we've got growing in the back garden.

 Harsh, WhatsApp, very harsh…
