10 Best Things About Being an Introvert Who's Secretly Outgoing

Ambiverts (aka introverted extroverts), which Science of People defines as "someone who exhibits qualities of both introversion and extroversion," are basically the best of both worlds. They're not too loud and intense to where you're like, "Jeez, we get it. You love talking!" but they're also not as consistently silent and stoic as a lot of introverts can be. Basically, they're people who you can party with and who you might not see for months. They are mysterious gems and here is why they are kind of the greatest.

1. You constantly keep your friends on your toes about whether or not you'll show up (but not in an annoying way). You're usually not that down to reply "Yes" to any Facebook invite on the planet, so when you do and you actually put on pants to show up and make everyone's life better with your presence, it's the equivalent of Prince showing up to a junior high talent show. This is a very cool feeling.

2. You might not be the first person to speak up in meetings, but you're better at persuading people to give you what you want.  A 2013 research paper in Psychological Science found that ambiverts (aka introverted extroverts) actually generated 32 percent more sales revenue than extroverts, even though when you think of sales, you probably think of an extrovert. Study author Adam Grant proposed that ambivert's actually have a major knack for sales, saying, "The ambivert advantage stems from the tendency to be assertive and enthusiastic enough to persuade and close, but at the same time, listening carefully to customers and avoiding the appearance of being overly confident or excited." So you're getting that $$$.

3. People can never really figure you out, which just makes them want to all the more. Guys especially love saying this like it's a half-insult but you know what? Who wants to be easily figured out in a day? Plus, by being the mysterious person who can be super social one minute and not really want to operate their phone the next, you keep people guessing and wanting to know you for basically your whole life, which is the ideal amount.

4. If you ever decide you want to have more close friends, there is an unlimited number of people you could ask. I know, I know. Your social circle is small for a reason (see: those low-energy days, man), but you know as well as I do that if you ever feel lonely or wish you could hang out with someone, you have, like, 200 people who haven't seen you in way too long and would love for you to grab your keys and cease the Netflix binge, so they can hug you.

5. You never struggle to come up with an excuse to get out of something you don't want to do. If an extrovert doesn't want to do something, they'll usually just go do it anyway because they couldn't think of a way out or felt obligated. You not only don't feel that obligated (yay, naps instead!), you have more excuses for what you're fake-doing that night than Beyoncé has glitter bodysuits.

6. You'll never stay out all night by accident and wonder where the time went. Extroverts do this all the time, usually because they don't care what time it is, but they really regret it the next morning. You, on the other hand, had literally one hour to spend with your friend and spent exactly that amount of time with them, leaving you with enough energy to do everything else you wanted that night. Ahhhh. This feeling is a treasure.

7. No one ever tries to make you go out when you say you don't want to. If people were used to you always saying yes, maybe they'd apply more pressure to you to go to things, but since they're pretty used to you RSVP-ing "maybe" and not showing up at all, you can just say, "Eh, I'm in for the night," and people will just be like, "Yeah, I didn't expect her to come anyway."

8. You can throw a last-minute party and be happy with however it works out. If no one comes? Yay, you can just be alone. If people come? Yay, you won't be alone. You're easy like that.

9. You can get all the social interaction you need for the night from the comfort of your own home. Sure, some nights it's nice to have someone in front of your face while you talk and music to dance to, but being able to text your friend nonstop for an hour while you revel in the fact that no one can watch you eat Cheetos and get super messy while you're doing it is a delicious arrangement.

10. Meeting other introverted extroverts is basically an insta-soul mate connection. "Aww, you understand the pain of wanting to party so hard, but only for 60 minutes max. Let's move in together. I love you." = you meeting someone who is like you.
