10 Women Try A Magical Green Lipstick

With all the bold lip colors coming out lately — from sky blue to bright green to black — I thought for sure this lipstick would turn my lips lime green. To my surprise, that wasn't the case. Instead, this formula goes on sheer and reacts with your body's pH, turning the sheer into a custom pink hue specific to you.

Here, 10 women played lipstick roulette to see what shade Santhilea Real Rebel Colour Perfect Luxury Lip Care, $10, turned their lips.

Courtney: This lipstick is pure makeup magic! I am obsessed with how it feels and I loved the color surprise. Full disclosure, I asked if I could keep it, I liked it that much.

Maya: I'm really into the light pink tint this lipstick turned my lips. It took a few minutes for the shade to show up, but once it did, I was hooked — it was a wearable pink color that'd fit perfectly into my everyday makeup routine. The formula was also super-moisturizing — it felt more like a balm, which I prefer in the summer because my lips often feeling extra dry.

Brooke: I liked it! I don't like to wear lipstick, and this felt natural yet still gave me a little color, so it was perfect for me. I also liked how it looked opaque and pastel pink on my lips, whereas it was turning everyone else's lips a deep sheer pink.

Mylan: I've tried lip glosses that change color with your body's chemistry before and they usually tend to dry out my lips, but this one totally didn't. The lipstick went on smoothly and was super moisturizing! It wasn't a ~dramatic~ change on my lip color, like it was on other girls', but it did give me a nice rosy pink tint that was pretty complementary to my skin tone. I'd definitely wear it again.

Becky: I was definitely really nervous to try this lipstick. It's green, people. But I was really surprised when it went on sheer and then starting turning pink immediately! I also really liked how it went on really lightweight and more like a lip balm, which I love for summer. I remember feeling kinda undone that entire day, but the moment I put on this lipstick, it gave me the extra something I needed!

Hannah: I don't totally get how it works, but I like the idea of a lipstick that somehow plays up whatever natural color you have going on. It ended up being less subtle than I thought it would be and was a little too hot pink for me. It made me look like I just ate something spicy.

Heeseung: I was excited to try the magic lipstick and see what it says about my body chemistry, but even though it appeared bright pink on the wipe when I took it off, on my lips, it looked like I wasn't wearing any lipstick at all. Does this mean I'm a ghost?

Prachi: I was pleasantly surprised by the pinkish hue it created (as opposed to being light green when it was handed to me), but I wouldn't say I'd use it again. I like to know what shade I'm putting on my face before I apply it. It looked great on the other girls who tried it though!

Alex: I thought it was so cool! It was super-easy to apply and felt really smooth while I had it on. The color ended up being very subtle on my skin (which I like) — so I'd probably wear it again.

Me: I loved the way this felt on my lips — I like really moisturizing lip products and it's honestly one of the most hydrating ones I've ever worn. I wasn't totally into how bright it turned my lips, but I found myself reapplying because of the way it felt on. The anticipation of waiting to see what color it was going to turn was fun though. Everyone really liked that part, as did I.
