If You Post About Your Workout Routine On Facebook, You Might Be a Narcissist

If you've always suspected that your Facebook friends who post constant updates about their marathon training and yoga progress are total narcissists, you might be right. According to a study conducted by researchers at Brunel University London, narcissists love to post diet and exercise updates on social media.

Researchers collected data from 555 Facebook-using participants who completed surveys about their personalities.

According to Mashable, the study found that what people post about on Facebook tends to correlate with personality traits and people who display narcissistic tendencies post more about their achievements on social media. That includes CrossFit stats and pictures documenting their impressive progress at the gym, apparently.

"Narcissists also wrote more status updates about their diet and exercise routine, suggesting that they use Facebook to broadcast the effort they put into their physical appearance," the researchers noted.

Narcissism wasn't the only trait the researchers reported on. They also found that people with low self-esteem were more likely to post updates about their significant others, which is no surprise to anyone with a Facebook feed.
