We've all had those mornings (read: every damn day) where we wake up feeling less than well-rested and reach straight for a coffee to hurtle us into the day. No judgement, we're not saying coffee is the devil, but I think we're all well aware it's not the best if used in excess.

Next time you're sluggishly pouring yourself out of bed and walking round like a zombie before you can get your hands on some of that sweet black nectar, try one of these options. Who knows, you may feel like you can give up your coffee fix forever (promise we're not crazy)!

KOMBUCHA

No we haven't gone all hippy on you…this fizzy (yet healthy) drink works wonders for your digestive system, which can easily make you feel sluggish if it's not balanced. Not only will kombucha improve your gut health thanks to probiotics, it will boost your energy long term.

ALMOND MILK SMOOTHIE

Find yourself constantly reaching for another cup around 3pm? Try a hit of protein smoothie instead. Use almond milk to elevate blood sugar levels and get a burst of energy without a sugary snack or a third latte.
