This Woman's Post On Facebook is Going Viral For All the Right Reasons

​'Don't enter the kitchen today'. 'You can't come to the temple with us'. 'Don't wear shorts when you're on your period'. There are more than enough dos and don'ts when women get a visit from Aunty Flo. And we've all had to do deal with it some point or the other. 

Which is why, last year, when women took to social media and participated in the #Happytobleed campaign, women in India were pleasantly surprised and proud. But the struggle to combat the stigma about menstruation continues. 

And that's why Anushka Dasgupta's post about being publicly jibed about her stained pants on the metro has garnered a lot of rage and applause. But here's the interesting part. While men ogled at her, the women around her decided to point out that she was in fact on her period. Someone even tried to discreetly pass a sanitary napkin to her.

Needless to say, there were a lot of comments that applauded her guts, and many still that ridiculed her for being 'proud'. But proud or not, it's time we stopped squirming when the topic of menstruation comes up. It's biological and that's that.

And literally, 'You would not be here if we did not menstruate'.
