Sad News for Sherlock Fans

Hold on to your Deerstalker hats Sherlock fans... there are some pretty sad rumours circulating. It seems that the next series of Sherlock could be the last.

Steven Moffat, the executive producer of the hit BBC drama admitted he's uncertain of the show's future saying, 'I don't know how long we can keep it going, I'm personally willing but I'm hardly the main draw.'

According to The Telegraph, Moffat has suggested that Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays the shows main character, only does the show out of loyalty to its fans, and admitted he's 'amazed' the BBC can still secure actors such as him and Martin Freeman who plays sidekick Doctor Watson.

'They haven't needed to do these jobs for a very long time. They're coming back because they want to,' Moffat added, saying the two film stars don't do the show for the money.

And while Moffat, who's also the head honcho behind Doctor Who, said it's unlikely the show will be completely finished, there'd be nothing wrong with stopping it for a while if Cumberbatch's and Freeman's schedules get too hectic. But come on... how can they stop Sherlock completely?

The show is one of the BBC's most popular programmes, which has accumulated 24 awards to date, and been nominated for a further six Emmys this year.

Whatever the future holds, we're looking forward to what the next series has in store in 2017.
