Hundreds of Super Powerful Women Just Released a Comprehensive Anti-Harassment Action Plan

A group of Hollywood's major woman players has unveiled an anti-harassment plan, which includes a legal fund, and is aimed at standing in solidarity with women across every industry to stop abuse, harassment, and assault.

The announcement came in Monday's New York Times,

The movement is called Time's Up, and the initiative includes: a legal defense fund, backed by $13 million in donations, to help less privileged women protect themselves from sexual misconduct and the fallout from reporting it, legislation to protect against sexual abuse and harassment in the workplace, and a drive to reach gender parity across Hollywood.

Times Up is championed by 300 prominent actresses and female agents, writers, directors, producers and entertainment executives, including Shonda Rhimes, Ashley Judd, Eva Longoria, America Ferrera, Natalie Portman, Rashida Jones, Emma Stone, Kerry Washington, Reese Witherspoon, Transparent showrunner Jill Soloway, Donna Langley, chairwoman of Universal Pictures, lawyer Nina L. Shaw, and Michelle Obama's chief of staff, Tina Tchen.

The women also made the request that everyone walking the Golden Globes red carpet raise awareness by wearing black.

"This is a moment of solidarity, not a fashion moment,"said Eva Longoria. "For years, we've sold these awards shows as women, with our gowns and colors and our beautiful faces and our glamour. This time the industry can't expect us to go up and twirl around. That's not what this moment is about."

Many of the women involved said the movement will bring solidarity between powerful women to help all women.

"We have been siloed off from each other," Reese Witherspoon said. "We're finally hearing each other, and seeing each other, and now locking arms in solidarity with each other, and in solidarity for every woman who doesn't feel seen, to be finally heard."
