Although to most people, she had everything going right in her life with a successful career, money and fame, she felt her lowest during this time. Deepika's healing was done with a combination of therapy and medication. By opening up about her struggles with depression, Deepika bought light to a topic that many people suffer with but keep under the wraps because of shame.

Just this week another celebrity came forward. Yo Yo Honey Singh opened up to Times of India about his battle with bipolar disorder and alcoholism. He also admitted the last 18 months were the 'darkest phase' phase of his life but is doing better now and under the care of a doctor's supervision.

Mental disorders are extremely common but still considered to be taboo in our society. However, thanks to these brave celebrity faces who are putting a spotlight on mental disorders, it is comforting to know that you are not alone. It is important that mental health problems be treated the same as any physical health problems, therefore seeking proper treatment for the patient.

1) Talk to a close friend or family: Don't be afraid to open up to close family or friends who you fully trust and know will give you good advice. 

2) Seek professional help: If your issues are consuming your mind, don't be afraid to seek professional help. 

3) Join support groups: Being around people who are going through (or have gone through) similar issues is extremely comforting.
