Cosmo Exclusive: Here's a Diet That'll Help You Drop a Few Kilos in Just 10 Days!

Our robotic lifestyle demands that we march from home to work and vice-versa leaving no me- time that can be spent at the gym. Losing weight by just following a certain diet is a dream come true. Sujetha Shetty, Nutritionist and Diet Expert at Gympik has come up with a 10 day Indian food diet plan that will help your lose your weight and not make you lose any sleep over it.

DAY 1 -

Breakfast -

  • A glass of warm water with a spoon of honey and juice of one lemon helps in boosting body metabolism that aids in weight loss.
  • For breakfast, a chapati with homemade curd made of double toned milk and egg white of one boiled egg. And for the hunger pangs post breakfast eat 6-7 almonds without oil and salt.

  • During lunch hours half a cup of rice with half a cup of lentils with tempering and half a bowl of veggies of choice along with a medium sized fish.

Evening snacks -

  • Evening snacks should be limited to a cup of tea or milk with two cream cracker biscuits.
  • One can have any one fruit of choice, except for bananas, at around 7pm as pre-dinner meal.

Dinner (Before 8:30) -

  • Include a bowl of homemade chicken soup, a slice of brown bread with almond butter without sugar, and half a bowl of boiled veggies.
  • As the day started with a drink that aids in faster metabolism, ending the day with a pre-bed drink is a good idea to keep body metabolism high. So, one hour before bed, prepare a drink with half cup of warm water with half spoon of grated ginger and half spoon honey.

DAY 2 and DAY 3 -

Breakfast -

  • One cup of upma made of rava and vegetables along with a glass of milk.

Lunch -

  • For the pre-lunch meal, a glass of vegetable smoothie made out of green and leafy vegetables. During lunch, have corn meal khichdi using minimum oil.

Evening snacks -

  • On these two days, instead of tea, 6-7 almonds are advisable as evening refreshment.

Dinner -

  • Half cup of rice with a bowl of vegetables.

DAY 4 and DAY 5 -

Breakfast -

  • Include a fruit of choice except bananas with a glass of milk.

Lunch -

  • And for pre-lunch, one can have half a bowl of sprouted chickpeas with a dash of lemon with no salt at around 11am.
  • Vegetable salad made of cucumber, beet root, carrots, tomatoes sprinkled with Apple Cider Vinegar with a bowl of lentils.

Evening snacks -

  • One can have a cup of milk as evening refreshment without sugar.

Dinner ( before 7:30) -

  • Vegetable salad of broccoli, cabbage, carrot and a good amount of apple vinegar cider with egg white of one boiled egg.
  • If the pre-bed and morning drink get monotonous, they can be altered with one spoon of pure Aloe Vera juice in a glass of warm water.

Day 6 and Day 7 -

Breakfast -

  • Start the day with 2 spoons of Fenugreek seeds soaked in water overnight. Strain the water in the morning and drink it as the first thing in the morning. For breakfast have a bowl of oatmeal with skimmed milk and 6-7 chopped almonds with any one fruit of choice.

Lunch -

  • The pre-lunch meal could be a bowl of fruit salad.
  • Include two whole wheat chapatis, one bowl of vegetables and a medium piece of fish.

Evening snacks -

  • Have 6-7 almonds.

Dinner -

  • Have early dinner on these two days, comprising a bowl of chicken stew and a bowl of sprouted beans. As pre-bed drink, one can choose anything between lemon and ginger drink with honey.

DAY 8 and DAY 9 -

Breakfast -

  • A medium sized bowl of soaked beaten rice with only lemon juice and one banana.

Lunch -

  • Keep the pre-lunch meals a little filling with vegetable smoothies.
  • For lunch one can have half a plate of salad that includes cucumber, carrots and tomatoes and half a cup of rice with one bowl of lentils.

Evening snacks -

  • A cup of double toned milk with sprouted beans or chickpeas.

Dinner (7 PM) -

  • A plate of vegetable salad.
  • Have a cup of vegetable soup at around 8pm.
  • Have a pre-bed drink of choice, one hour before going to bed.

DAY 10 - NO SALT DAY

Salt is restricted on this day as it is directly related to water retention in the body.

  • Start the day with a glass of warm water with one spoon of Aloe Vera juice.
  • Two brown breads without butter, white of two boiled eggs and a glass of fruit juice without any sugar or artificial sweetener.

Lunch -

  • The pre-lunch diet can have a glass of fruit juice made from cucumber, pineapple, oranges and carrot with sufficient pepper and one spoon honey.
  • The lunch menu can have a bowl of vegetable khichdi and a plate of vegetable salad with enough apple cider vinegar.

Evening snacks -

  • The 4pm refreshment should include a glass of double toned milk with two cream cracker biscuits.

Dinner -

  • Have an early dinner. Puffed rice and homemade sour curd and a fruit of choice after one hour of dinner.
  • Have any pre-bed drink.

Important Point:

  • Use minimum oil in cooking and avoid any added salt or sugar.
  • Have early dinner
  • Weight loss can happen in 10 days but one needs to follow the diet religiously.
  • Dieting does not mean starving. Eat right and stay healthy.
