10 Bollywood Films That Introduced Us to Major Fashion Trends

Bollywood films have always been a big cultural influence in our lives. Every movie brings a particular fashion with it. From Coachella inspired outfits to everything gold and sequin, from metallic shirts to leather pants, from size zero to cool AF nerdy glasses—Bollywood movies have heavily influenced the evolution of fashion.

We've a curated a list of super-stylish and glamorous looks from your fave Bollywood movies, that along with entertaining us, have also bombarded us with all major #FashionGoals!

1. Dhoom 2

Pick up a DVD of Dhoom 2 and you won't even realise that that movie is ELEVEN YEARS OLD. Whaaaaa!? Anaita Shroff Adajania took the reins of styling in her own hands for A-List celebs like—Hrithik Roshan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Bipasha Basu.

Hot bods, chiselled abs, bikini tops, micro minis, sun-kissed hair, latex body suits and what not — this movie gave us a feast! While the Kardashians are rocking their knee-length boots now, Aish already dusted 'em off in 2006!

2. Cocktail

Aztec prints and Coachella-esque outfits became the new rage amongst youngsters with the release of this movie. The film released in 2012, made the actors look way ahead of their time, courtesy: Their Outfits! Remember Deepika's sequined one pieces and gorgeous beach waves? We must say—Good work, Anaita Shroff Adajania!

3. Dostana

9 years ago. This movie was released 9 years ago! Priyanka Chopra still looks so fresh coming out of the water, glistening in that golden yellow bikini—making everyone drool, literally! From the concept of the movie (homosexuality) to the wardrobe of the actors, everything was way ahead of its time, especially considering it was 2008!

4. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai

Everyone wanted to own (or already owned) a maroon jumpsuit, like the one Kajol wore in the song 'Koi Mil Gaya'. KKHH revolutionised college into a whole new cool.

Polo Tees, GAP sweatshirts, plastic heels, Kajol's bob haircut, cheesy friendship bands, headbands... all became an instant hit back then! In fact, playing basketball became a thing for 80s kids.

5. Aisha

Can we even blame a movie for being ultra-glamorous that stars Sonam Kapoor and is produced by Rhea Kapoor? 'RheSon' worked together on the styling of the movie and introduced every Gucci, Chanel, Prada, Ferragamo accessory to the Indian audience. The movie was a toast for every fashionista, and the famous Lady Dior bag that Sonam carried in each and every frame, earned a spot on every girl's lust list!

6. Dil Dhadakne Do

An uber-stylish cast, #VacayApt outfits, dapper suits, cool sunnies, vibrant colours—this movie was indeed a treat for everyone. Priyanka's style specifically, became the talk of Fashionville! Everyone who watched the film got their fair share of vacation envy.

7. Dil Chahta Hai

The movie that made leather pants look cool! The trio Aamir Khan, Akshay Khanna and Saif Ali Khan donned leather pants and metallic shirts and set the stage, and our hearts ablaze! Totally knocked out all male fashion stereotypes FTW.

8. Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gum

A movie where Karan Johar is involved, cannot have a dull sartorial appeal. Nope, no way! From Kareena's semi backless outfits to her traditional wear, from the grandeur of the locations, to fantastic Manish Malhotra designs—this film was one helluva larger-than-life movie, overflowing with—Good Looks, Good Looks, and Good Looks!
