Summer is here and the bikini body goals are taking over our daily lives. Apart from joining the gym, you're already trying to make healthy food swaps. The first out of them involving, replacing everything 'white' with 'brown'. (No racist commented intended here).
We simply mean, brown rice, brown pasta, brown bread, and even brown sugar in some instances, instead of white rice or white pasta. But do you still crave your daily dose of white's, especially white rice. For us Indians, it's harder actually, how can you imagine your mum's home-made 'rajma rice', without white rice? That's just ridiculous.
But, good news, we're going to tell you something that's going to make you rather happy. According to Maria Marlowe, a nutritionist and author, of The Real Food Grocery Guide, there is one time that eating white rice is absolutely okay.
That's when, you pair it with beans! All the rajma-rice lovers out there, your dream just came true.
How's that possible, do you wonder? Well, white rice is a refined carb, and causes an unhealthy blood-sugar spike. But adding any kinds of beans or lentils to the mix, lowers the overall glycemic index of your meal. It keeps your blood sugar stable, and avoids you getting hungry an hour later, like many brown items tend to do.
So all you burrito fans or rajma rice fans, this ones for you. Happy eating.
