Here's What Deepika Padukone Has to Say About the Hype Around Her Pay-Cheque for 'Padmavati'

Be it for her glamorous avatars in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's period films, or her bad-ass debut in Hollywood as Serene Unger à la xXx: Return of Xander Cage —Deepika Padukone is on a rampage to success, and there's no stopping her.

The actress is rumoured to have been payed a whopping 13 crores for her role in her upcoming film Padmavati as opposed to her co-stars Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor who are said to be drawing in about 10 crores each. Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali was clear that the film was mounted on its female protagonist Deepika Padukone with the title being a testimony of the actress' investment in the project, and hence it was only fair to pay her the due remuneration.

The disparity in the wages between males and females is not just restricted to showbiz, but celebs are the ones who are using their social influence to initiate a change! There have been many cases when actresses like Sonam Kapoor have also spoken out in public about "not being paid their dues", and with the recent news of Deepika Padukone being paid more than her male co-stars Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor — is a slight ray of hope that maybe there is a scope for change, after all.

At the 3D trailer launch of Padmavati, Deepika was asked about her views on this, and she said:

"Talking about my remuneration isn't exciting. But I am proud and confident about the money I get. But what makes me happy is that they have invested so much money in a film which has a poster featuring me on it. That makes me proud. This is the beginning of great things woman have in films."

Well, we're glad power women like her are doing everything they can to blow the winds of change. The movie is all set for release on December 1st, and we're excited AF!
