So, remember that cool as *ss move on the Starship Enterprise where Captain Picard and gang used to talk to each other via lapel pin and you thought 'goddamn that's the future?'
THAT FUTURE is NOW!
Google's put out the prototype for a wearable pin-device that responds to voice commands and sends messages and commands to other devices via Bluetooth.
"I always wanted that pin," Amit Singhal, Senior Vice President and the executive heading the firm's research, was quoted as saying. "You just ask it anything and it works. That's why we were like, 'Let's go prototype that and see how it feels.'"
The prototype pin is activated by a light tap, and worn on the chest. The idea behind the pin is to test how users interact with voice recognition. It's still in the testing stages at this point, but it's a promising glimpse into what Google's got planned for thev future. We're pretty excited.
