Miss Philippines Wrote a Lovely Open Letter to Miss Colombia After That Awkward Miss Universe Moment

​For the first time in FOREVER, the Miss Universe pageant was actually more exciting than the usual waving and fancy dresses. For Steve Harvey made a monumental f***-up, it was hilarious, and (at least)a thousand memes were spawned.

The two women in the fallout of that f***-up are Pia Wurtzbach - Miss Philippines, who then became Miss Universe - and Ariadna Gutierrez - Miss Colombia, mistakenly given the winner's crown. 

While their reactions to the awkwardness have now been ascribed every emotion from 'when you don't study for a test but still pass' to 'meeting your ex's new girlfriend', Pia Wurtzbach has now written an open letter on the official Miss Universe Facebook, reminding everyone that she and Ariadna are not sworn actually the sworn enemies the internet's starting to make them out to be. 

"To Ariadna," wrote Pia, "you are an amazing woman and we are now bonded together forever by a unique experience. In the last 3 weeks we were together, I saw how strong and beautiful you are inside and out. You represented your country with honour and I know how proud everyone must be of you. Fate has a plan for you, and I'm excited to see what's ahead."

Aww. Sweet. 

Miss Universe then went on to basically give everyone a good telling off for all the 'what a dupe' and 'THIS OTHER WOMAN SHOULD HAVE WON' comments. "To all the fans who are still fighting about this…Please let's all stop now," she wrote. That's them told. 

"The Miss Universe Organization is about uniting empowered women from all over the world. Arguing and sending hateful messages to each other defeats the whole purpose. You believe in the message of Miss Universe and so do I. Again, thank you for the love. I'm excited to begin my duties as Miss Universe and I wish everyone, all the contestants and all the supporters a great holiday with their loved ones."

Meanwhile, Ariadna (AKA Miss Colombia) has also written a message on the whole shebang, thanking everyone for their support on Instagram. She added a congratulations for Pia, and ended with: "Life continues and in the future we will find out why things happen the way they happen."

See, everyone? They're all friends, it's all okay, and we can calm down. Resume with the meme-making, sure, but in the knowledge that all is right in the (miss) universe.
