If you've been watching all kinds of old-timey films and lusting after the idea of a classy, sexy jazz bar with glorious throwback music and a 1920's feel to it, your prayers have officially been answered by Arjun Sagar Gupta's The Piano Man.
Doused in beautiful chandeliers peppered with dim, yellow lights that set the mood from the second you enter, The Piano Man has a certain dark, mysterious glow to it. You feel quite like you were in Delhi a second ago, and suddenly stepped onto the sets of Chicago—in the best way possible. The burnished teakwood and high-top bar chairs add to the old-worldliness of the ambience—and the thoughtful little details and nuances make the place more authentic than ever.
If you're for a clubbing kinda evening, with loads of bad Bollywood throbbing through wall speakers and tossed-together cocktails that come quick and cheap—this place is definitely not your jam. However, for a cultured, classy evening where the cocktails are good and solid and the range of food is eclectic and delectable, The Piano Man fits the bill to a T.
You'll want to leave that diet by the wayside, though. Especially when your plate of Mac and Cheese Fritters arrives—yummy balls of fried cheesy goodness and definitely worth the extra 15 minutes on the cross-trainer. The Old Monk Chicken Wings, though? Those are just SO worth mixing alcohol if you're having a glass of their fabulous Red Wine Sangria.
For movie mad-hatters, stop by on Monday or Tuesday night for a jazz film screening. Other the gig aficionados just need to come by any other night of the week for a live music treat.
PS: Check out the bricks on the top floor's wall—every music lover will discover the most delicious surprise!
