As fascinating (and awesome) as it sounds, the thought of living in space is actually a terrifying thought(hello, Doctor Who...<3), so when Stephen Hawking shared his theory on what might be the future of our planet, we were equal parts horrified and fascinated.
According to the world's leading authority on anything physics AKA Stephen Hawking, the planet is headed for an almost certain apocalypse in another thousand to ten thousand years. In an interview with the Telegraph, he said, "We face a number of threats: nuclear war, global warming and genetically engineered viruses," which basically means that with science and technology moving at such an astronomical speed, we might be a danger to ourselves, as far as planet and it's resources our concerned.
Now before you start thinking how on Earth could I find this exciting and awesome, humanity is not going to end with the end of Earth!
He believes that by that time, we (humans) would have spread all over the Universe á la Jetsons and living the life alien style (which I am hoping is awesome), this is what Stephen Hawking said in his recent Radio Times interview, "Although the chance of a disaster on planet Earth in a given year may be quite low, it adds up over time, becoming a near certainty in the next thousand or ten thousand years . . . by that time we should have spread out into space, and to other stars, so it would not mean the end of the human race."
So even though we are inevitably headed towards the 'END', it's not the end after all. Thoughts?
