This Shimmery Eye Makeup Is the Most Gorgeous Look You've Ever Seen

Oil slick hair — where iridescent blues and purples got applied to dark hair — was one of the coolest hair color trends to emerge last year, and now I'm seeing the trend on eyes.

MAC makeup artist Regan Rabanal​ created the look for Michelle Helene's latest runway show, and the gorgeous look is a super-unique way for you to do something different with your eye makeup. It's surprisingly really easy and actually wearable (if you apply the pigments subtly).

To get the look, Regan chose metallic pigments from MAC in copper, platinum, blue-brown, and deep blue-green to create the oil spill effect. "I wanted there to be a sense of individuality with each girl, so the patterns on the eyes were different depending on their eye shape," he told Cosmopolitan.com.

"Think about how you're going to contour an eye: You'd use the same technique here, there just isn't any blending involved," he said.

First, Regan mixed 75 percent of each pigment with 25 percent of MAC's Fix Plus spray (in their own separate dishes) to make it into a paste-like substance. 

Next, he used a tiny fan brush to swipe each color across the lid. "Using painterly strokes, I used the lighter colors to bring some areas forward like the platinum over the tear duct and the copper over the lid, below the brow, and at the outer corner of the eye," he said. "And then the blue-brown to do the crease and the blue-green in the outer corner, under the eye, and in the inner corner of the eye."

Finally, Regan trimmed a small eye shadow brush so it was super-pointy and used the pigments at the outer corner of the eye to create harsh winged edges to add some definition. Then he let the pigments dry for a few minutes, so the colors wouldn't all blur together.

And there you have it. A bomb-ass eye that's perfect for when you want to be super-bold with your look!
