All this talk about equal pay for female actors, #HappyToBleed, and other feminist issues got a lot of people riled up. One of them was Kira Garcia, a contributor for Lenny (Lena Dunham's openly feminist newsletter) that drew up a list of imaginary movies that would most definitely pass the Bechdel test. For all those who don't know, the Bechdel test asked whether a particular work of fiction features at least two women who talk to each other about something other than a man. It was a way to combat sexism.
So, Kira Garcia drew up a list of imaginary movies. Lucky for us, the Sydney Opera House actually created some Bechdel test-approved trailers based on Garcia's initial list, and the results are inspiring.
We'd definitely line up outside the theatre the night before to watch a movie about a powerful career woman who wants to focus on her career and doesn't really care for an affair with the office hottie.

Sadly, these films are 'not showing in cinemas this summer'.
But, we can hope.
