Though Craig and Joan Lyons have been friends for more than 30 years, he only told her how he really felt about her 18 months ago, the Daily Mail reports. In those 18 months, the couple fell in love, found out Craig had terminal pancreatic cancer, and got married. At their wedding Friday, Joan shaved her head to support her new husband.

"It was the obviously the first time I had seen Joan without her hair and she looked beautiful, absolutely stunning," he told the Daily Mail. "I fell in love with her as soon as I set my eyes on her when we were 14. I was a bit shy about it and Joan has been married previously but it has always been about Joan for me. She is the woman of my dreams."

Though the couple had planned to marry later this year, they moved the wedding up when Craig's diagnosis became terminal. Not only did Joan donate her hair to the Little Princess Trust, which creates wigs for children who've lost their hair during cancer treatment, but the couple encouraged all wedding guests to donate to other charities as well.
