The 2016 World Happiness Report has been published, and has ranked 158 countries in order of contentment. The report took into consideration things such as social support, healthy life expectancy, generosity, corruption and freedom to make life choices.

The United Kingdom came in at 23rd, while the United States just missed the top ten at 13th. The countries at the bottom of the list were Burundi, Syria, Togo, Afghanistan, Benin, Rwanda, Guinea, Liberia and Tanzania.

10. SWEDEN

Most Popular

Western Europe's third largest country fell two places this year. It's the seventh richest country in the world, and home to 29 national parks plus stunning cities such as Gothenburg and Stockholm.

9. AUSTRALIA

Stunning beaches, cool cityscapes and The Great Barrier Reef, Australia is home to some of the most exciting scenery in the world. Melbourne was recently named 'the best city in the world to live in,' taking consideration of factors such as quality of medical care and transport links.
