These Strapless Undies Are Just Utterly Bizarre

Nobody likes panty lines. They take whatever you're wearing and draw all the attention to your undergarments. To solve this fashion dilemma, a company named Shibue Couture has opted to create a strapless panty. Its motto: "We didn't cross the line...we erased it!"

Here's how it works, according to the original product's description: "Shibues are held in place by a washable and re-usable soft silicone gel adhesive across the top front and top back of the panty leaving nothing but a smooth, clean silhouette on your sides." It's basically like pasties for your nether region. Sound crazy? This panty has already garnered a lot of publicity, with Express.co.uk reporting that celebrities including Kate Upton and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley have opted for this style.

The men in your life don't need to fret over visible boxer lines anymore, either — Shibue also has a "Hibue" for men that looks quite a bit like a banana hammock style bathing suit, sans straps.

While this panty is truly fascinating, I'm a little skeptical. First of all, it's basically a thong, and thongs come with a plethora of stipulations on when and where you can wear them, as well as how negatively they can affect your body. Second, in order to make the underwear stay on, you would have to be virtually hairless in the zones that it touches. Who, pray tell, wants to remove literally all their pubic hair just to wear a sticky semi-thong? Third, it looks really silly. Like, really silly:

For an extra special event where you're wearing sheer or lace garments, this could potentially solve your visible panty woes. It might be good to speak with your doctor first, though, if your body tends to react negatively to thongs.
