Make sure you and your loved ones never fall prey to these scams...
1. One of the most convincing involves a courier pretending to be from the bank - or police - coming to your home and saying your card has been compromised and you most give it to them, along with your pin. Banks just don't do this.
2. Scammers often call claiming to be from a bank or utility company. Never hand out personal bank or password details to anyone phoning and claiming to be from a bank or utility provider. Say you'll phone back - and find the number yourself rather than returning the call. Ideally call back from another line, as one scam is for them to stay on the line and intercept your call.
3. Watch out for pop-ups on your internet (any new window that appears without you opening it) that claim your computer has been blocked or is in danger. They will ask you to call a phoneline and then attempt to extract your bank details.
