This Is How Often You Should REALLY Be Washing Your Clothes

We tend to just chuck things in the wash if they're dirty, smelly or basically if we can't be bothered to hang them up, but apparently there's far more of a science to it than that. Go figure.

Real Simple recently published a chart from its book, The Real Simple Guide To Real Life, that details exactly how often everything in your wardrobe needs washing. And yes, it's probably much more often than you do it right now

Apparently, bras should be washed after three to four wears (whoops), and hosiery after every wear. Surprisingly, leggings and yoga pants can last up to three wears, while pyjamas can stretch to four. T-shirts, however, last just one wear before they need a good wash.

But there are some trusty wardrobe mainstays you won't need to put in your laundry basket on a regular basis. A moment of silence please for the always reliable jeans, which last for five wears, and our favourite comfy jumpers which can be worn as many as seven times before going in the wash.

Of course, Real Simple note that this is just a guide, and you'll need to wash more if you happen to spill something down yourself. Which we do - A LOT.

Excuse us, we just need to find a clean bra to wear tomorrow...
