Ever since Daniel Craig announced he'd rather "slit his wrists" than take part in another Bond film, we've all become completely obsessed with who'll take over.
With Tom Hiddleston practically auditioning on national TV (please see The Night Manager for reference), Idris Elba being touted as the first black Bond (and Damian Lewis as the first ginger one for that matter), talk has now turned to which female actress should take on the role of 007.
Here are all the female actors we'd love to see sipping a martini on the big screen…
Most known for her role as Khaleesi in Game of Thrones, Clarke has now also cited her dreams of playing the first female James Bond in a recent interview. "I have a lot of unrealised dreams. I would love to play Jane Bond. My ultimate leading man would be Leonardo DiCaprio. No doubt about it." DiCaprio as a Bond boy? Genius.
Gillian Anderson very firmly threw her hat into the ring this week when she tweeted a mocked-up poster of herself as 007, with the tag line "It's Bond. Jane Bond." And the reaction of the public was, well, positive, with one fan claiming: "I'm going to sell my soul to Satan for Gillian as the first female Bond," praise indeed.
In the same show that almost proved the role had Hiddleston's name on it, Colman found her own campaign unfolding with viewers calling out for her to be the next 007, claiming she "outspied" Hiddleston. Ouch.
A recent survey found that 21% of the public wish that role was Kate Winslet's, picking her over both Colman and Rachel Weisz (which would be an interesting choice given her husband has reportedly just turned down £60 million to do another two films as Bond).
The former Miss World hasn't been shy about her bid to play Bond, claiming: "I don't think Bond does too much, he's just suave and sexy. He rolls out with his martini and fancy cars. Wow, it sounds like my life already." While in a recent interview with Complex magazine when questioned about playing a Bond girl she replied: "I get that all the time. But f*ck that — I wanna be Bond."
Having already got the people behind Salt to change the lead role from male to female, we have no doubt that Jolie could work her magic on the James Bond franchise…
Did you see her in Mad Max: Fury Road? Exactly. She was the ultimate feminist icon, taking on a whole host of slightly crazy men and seriously winning.
We kind of love the idea of JLaw pulling off incredible stunts and seducing men the world over. Her only issue could be her slight clumsiness – Bond tripping up a flight of stairs? Yes, we're not sure that would ever happen.
In 2010 Mirren became part of the ultimate CIA team, who reunite to uncover a huge conspiracy that threatens their lives. And she is glorious.
