Do These Three Things and You'll be Happier

Surprisingly, one of them is not winning the lottery.

Apparently, there are three key ingredients to happiness. And surprisingly, they're not winning the lottery, a swanky holiday and puppies.

According to experts, the three steps to happiness are actually well within our reach and can be applied to our daily routines. Well, two of them at least.

Two separate studies concluded that the three most important factors are firstly, eating plenty of fresh fruit, secondly, eating fresh vegetables, and finally, sex.

For the first two, the study published in the American Journal of Public Health analyzed the food diaries of over 12,000 Australians over a six year period to assess their life satisfaction.

They were asked to increase their fruit and vegetable intake from almost nothing, to eight portions a day — and the result was that they were a lot happier.

Apparently, there are three key ingredients to happiness. And surprisingly, they're not winning the lottery, a swanky holiday and puppies.

As for the sex, a Social Psychological & Personality Science study on SAGE Journals found that people who had more regular sex had higher self-esteem.

The study showed that (both male and female) students reported a higher well-being after having sex, compared to those who were not.
