7 Instagram Worthy Hair Hacks

1. Wash your hair upside down

Raise your hand if you get in the shower and slap your shampoo right in the middle of your scalp. Yeah, I thought so. Instead, start by massaging the shampoo at the nape of your neck and working upwards, underneath your hair and around your scalp. This will give extra volume and prevent you stripping the ends of your hair as you are focusing on the roots.

2. Get heatless waves

If you want to give your hair a break from heat styling but still want loose waves, get bunning. Part your hair down the back and split into 2 pigtail sections. Split each pigtail in two and twist each section away from your face and into a tight bun. Secure with kirby grips and go to sleep. When you unpin in the morning you will have loose, natural waves.

3. Protect your colour while you wash

Sodium laurel sulfate is a chemical that is found in a lot of shampoos and conditioners because it's cheap and helps them foam and spread through the hair. But if you have dyed your hair beware because products with SLS in them will strip your colour.

4. Get a perky pony

Nobody likes a saggy ponytail, but with this clever kirby grip trick, your pony will be fit for any dressage competition.

5. Multitask your eyeshadow

This isn't just a trick you can use to cover roots. You can use eyeshadow to make your hair appear thicker in areas where it might be slightly thinner. Just make sure you use a matching eyeshadow colour and blend out with an eyeshadow blending brush.

6. Use your powder brush to tame frizz

If your hair is prone to frizzing (hello, humidity) there is something in your makeup bag that can help with those flyaways. Use your bronzer brush (any dense, kabuki style brush will do) and spray with hairspray. When you gently run the brush over your hair this will tame and smooth any extra frizzy strands. For long-term frizz control, switch to a de-frizz hair care range.

7. Flip your hair to hide your fringe

We know what a nightmare it can be to try and grow your fringe out. There is another way to hide your 'gringe' that doesn't involve a kirby grip. Spray your hair with a texturising spray and sweep your fringe back into an Ariel style side sweep. Spray with hairspray to keep in place.
