A Twitter Employee Briefly Shut Down President Donald Trump's Account

For about eleven minutes around 7:00 p.m. EST on Thursday, Twitter and the world were short one notable account: @realdonaldtrump.

Despite the "real" part of the title, which is normally used to distinguish parody or non-famous accounts from their famed counterparts, @realdonaldtrump had been the official missive for the president's id, and its loss was immediately noticed across the social media platform.

Now, Twitter has placed the blame for the presidential suspension on an employee who apparently suspended the account as a last day of work hurrah:

"Earlier today @realdonaldtrump's account was inadvertently deactivated due to human error by a Twitter employee. The account was down for 11 minutes, and has since been restored. We are continuing to investigate and are taking steps to prevent this from happening again.""Through our investigation we have learned that this was done by a Twitter customer support employee who did this on the employee's last day. We are conducting a full internal review."

While the president has not taken to his now-restored Twitter account to lambast the platform he uses the most, he has since tweeted an upcoming appearance on Fox News.
